Flash design can be a great addition to your website. It simply adds something that many other websites these days do not have…interest! There is nothing worse than coming across a website that just puts you to sleep. Flash design can help to showcase your company’s full potential through use of images or general movement throughout the website. Some tend to get a little bit overly excited about flash on their website…and need to be aware of the downside to adding flash features.

Building an entire website in flash can look amazing and modern…but can greatly affect the ability to build placement on most search engines. If you are simply building a website for showcasing a portfolio to existing customers or for a project that is not intended to be marketed- then go for it! But if you really want to get your website out there online for new customers or potential new customers to see, then stick with small amounts of flash.

Do not be discouraged. Flash works fine on search engines in small doses. We like to recommend selecting a few key images that really showcase your business. This could be any of the following:

·         Your top selling products

·         Your facility, and/or machinery

·         Your workers on the job

·         Your completed projects

·         A group shot of your entire company

·         If you have multiple work vans or trucks then line them up and shoot a photo!

·         Any other photos that may explain the basis of your business

Keep in mind that if you do not have any images to use off hand you can search for Stock Photos that are Royalty Free. We like to use www.istockphoto.com as they have the greatest selection and greatest pricing available online.

Not thrilled about adding flash images to your site? Don’t worry- you can try something else to catch your viewers attention. Come up with a few company slogans. Think of something that really sums up your company in a few words. Instead of the flash images, a slide of flashing text does the trick and gets the point across in a very clear and concise way.
